Mount Desert Island gives its guests innumerable avenues for natural settings mixed into living spaces. One perfect example is this classy house in the hills of Northeast Harbor. Set at the foot of Elliott Mountain, Foothold is a prime location for a small group's intimate holiday. Ideal for hikers and runners, walkers and birders, garden enthusiasts and picnic types. Best-suited for the able-bodied and not for families with toddlers who may miss those circular stairs or the confines of the deck, entirely. Foothold is nestled in with beautiful greenery, ferns, mosses and boulders.
Beyond her natural wooded exterior is her charming and tranquil interior with perfect lighting and tasteful decor. A large living room gives way gently both into the kitchen as well as into the dining nook. From the kitchen is one door to the extensive wrap-around deck. Charcoal grill for use outside. Through the living room is the front door, also with access to the deck and driveway. Down a step from the living room is a full bathroom with beautifully tiled shower. There are two bedrooms here at Foothold: one with a queen bed and the other with two twins. Both bedrooms have woodsy views and are bright. Down the central circular stairway is the washer and dryer.
Thuya Gardens, the Asticou Azalea Gardens, Acadia's carriage paths and trails are all near this quaint home.
